Eat smart and don’t deny your body the food it requires

Crash (not to mention fad) diets are so 2000 and late. This season, why not invest in eating smart as an alternative to depriving yourself of food? Sure, starving all day it’s the faster and cheaper method. And healthy organic food items are well known to get a little pricier than the typical chips you can purchase the local grocery store. Having said that, don’t let that discourage you from eating smart. You can start slowly and gradually by knowing and taking a note of what is unhealthy for you. Do healthy self-talk

Talking to yourself is not being mad. It is true since the voice from my head shared it. But really, you should carry out being mindful when thinking thoughts. When you realize that you’re thinking in a self-defeating way and being too self-critical, follow at once with good notions and concepts. This helps in leading you far from wasting away in a self-loathing episode, which is really negative for your cerebral and physical health.

Manage your anxiety with easy, simple steps

Anxiety is such a stressing thing to deal with, right? Especially when it happens during consultations with a doctor or surgeries

If you have a pending medical surgery, don’t fret since there are actually a few means to lighten your pre-surgery nervousness. Almost all experts in osteoporosis prevention in NYC instruct others to handle pre-surgery stress and anxiety by slow and deeply breathing in, looking over a much-loved book, and enjoying a favorite playlist or album by a favourite artist.

Have a change of surroundings!

A modification of scenery will certainly urge your brain juices to flow. Even merely resting on a new hang-out or a park will give you a fresher standpoint in your existence. Just remember to bring a pen or pencil or a laptop so that any ingenious tips will never fizzle out. For more information, visit their website at:

Your next computer could be in a data center

Computers have become more powerful and more portable, letting you execute some compute-intensive tasks on your laptop. But internet connections have also become incredibly faster, making it much easier to outsource some tasks to servers sitting in a data center.

Most of the apps on your phone already rely on a server component to store and process your data. When you post a video on Facebook, it gets re-encoded into multiple formats on the server so that other users can stream your video in SD, HD, etc.

But I think this trend is going to become even more important in the coming years, with all your devices acting as a simple screen into your stuff running on servers in data centers near you.

First, internet connection speeds and latency need to improve drastically for everyone. I’m lucky that I live in Paris, a dense city with efficient infrastructure. I get around 800 Mbps and 250 Mbps of download and upload speeds at home. And I can ping all data centers around Paris in less than 2 milliseconds with a wired connection.

Second, I’ve valued portability over specs for years. I’m currently typing this article on the tiny 12-inch MacBook. It’s a lightweight, fanless device that is more or less as powerful as the MacBook Pro I was previously using.

Raw performance has more or less stagnated for laptops if you opt for the lightest device you can get. At the same time, more tasks are relying on powerful graphics processing units. Creative people manage bigger photos and 4K video footage. Even your browser has become more demanding.

Third, companies need to develop services that everybody can use without any coding experience. For instance Adobe could release thin clients of Photoshop, Premiere Pro and other apps with all the heavy work happening on a server. I feel like Adobe’s subscription model is the perfect opportunity to try this with an optional add-on.

Even without reinventing the wheel, some companies are innovating in this space. French startup Blade is working on a service called Shadow, mostly for cloud gaming. It is running thousands of virtual machines on server-grade Intel Xeon processors with a dedicated Nvidia GTX 1070 for each user. You can get your personal instance for around $32.70 per month (€30).

At first, I was quite skeptical as cloud gaming has never worked perfectly well due to latency, image compression and restrictions. But in this case, you get a full-fledged Windows 10 desktop environment with great network performances.

The company has just released Windows and Android apps, and it is currently working on a macOS app as well as a dedicated device with a cheap CPU and all the ports you need. This way, you don’t even need to have an existing computer to connect to your virtual machine on Shadow’s servers.

After a few minutes running the Windows app on my Windows computer, I got confused and realized I needed to use two different wallpapers because I couldn’t tell if I was interacting with my local computer or the virtual machine running in Shadow’s data center near Paris.

When you run a game on your Shadow instance, your laptop fan remains silent because not much is happening on your local computer. It’s one of the most telling examples of outsourcing compute-intensive tasks. These companies will have to make sure they have a rock-solid privacy policy and security system.

CPUs, GPUs and SSDs are still going to get better over time. These innovations will mostly benefit cloud companies so that they can provide better servers.

Conversely, infrastructure is going to become increasingly important as LTE and constrained fiber-optics internet connections won’t cut it anymore. You’ll want gigabit connections on all your devices. And then, it’ll feel like you’re living in the future.

According to researchers at the University of Padova in Italy, how a person moves a mouse when answering questions on a computer may reveal whether or not they’re lying. The finding has the potential to identify everything from fake online reviews and fraudulent insurance claims to pedophiles and terrorists, the team suggests.

The researchers used an artificial intelligence algorithm trained to make decisions based on data. The computer system was presented labeled examples from individuals answering questions honestly and those providing false answers. With experience, the algorithm began to identify the differences in mouse movements between an honest and dishonest answer.

During the study, which involved 60 students at the University of Padova, participants answered a series of questions — some of which were unexpected. Half were told to assume a false identity and given time to practice it.

The truthful individuals slid their mouse directly to an answer. The dishonest individual took a longer, indirect path to their answer.

“Our brain is built to respond truthfully. When we lie, we usually suppress the first response and substitute it with a faked response,” said Giuseppe Sartori, lead researcher and a University of Padova professor.

A new partnership between Temple and Project HOME provides community members with the skills they need to fill jobs in the technology industry. The 10-week training program, Temple Tech for Philly, was designed to offer local residents hands-on experience in the fundamentals of computer technology, including installation and configuration of PCs, laptops and related hardware. “Support is important to success,” said Alexis Pugh, director of workforce solutions at Project HOME’s Honickman Learning Center. “Programs like this one help develop strong support systems so that those who are looking to enter the workforce have fewer barriers to face.” During summer 2017, Project HOME identified a cohort of 15 individuals to participate in the Temple Tech for Philly program, which was taught by volunteers from Temple’s Computer Services department. Each volunteer led classes on two topics related to specific subjects. “Getting more people engaged in technology is important,” said David Matthews, a senior tech support specialist for Computer Services who volunteered as a teacher. “There is significant digital divide in areas like North Philadelphia. Unless you’re exposed these concepts as a career opportunity, you lose access to lucrative job options.” Program participant Allen Turner admitted that it wasn’t easy. He said balancing everyday life with the complicated computer courses and homework was a challenge. “It was difficult,” he said, addressing his classmates at the program’s graduation last week. “But it was definitely worth it. The best thing we can do now is take everything we learned and run with it.” According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, computer user-support specialist jobs are expected to grow more than 20 percent by 2022. Beginning in the spring, selected graduates of the program will be offered internships on Main Campus, where they can put their new skills to use. Graduates of the program are prepared to take the CompTIA A+ certification exam, which tests for technical comprehension of computer technology, networking, security, communication and professionalism. “Programs like this give community members an opportunity to enter the workforce with strong training guided by Temple professionals,” said Jonathan Latko, program coordinator and director of Temple’s Computer Recycling Center. Graduates of the program will also have access to the Office of Community Relations’ new Workforce Connections Hub, which can assist with resume development and job placement.
